My name is Scott Andrews and I live in Cary, North Carolina with my wife and four daughters. I graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1987 and proudly served our country as an Army officer and aviator (helicopter pilot) for 5 years, including Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. I earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina in 1995 and subsequently co-founded SciQuest.com., a web-based software company which, serving as CEO, took public in 1999. (Yes, you could have done quite well shorting our stock in 2000 and yes, it did survive, though private now).
My first trade was in 1991 and I have been trading full time for a living since 2004. Gaps are my "bread and butter" trade. At the encouragement of some fellow traders, I started calling out my daily gap plays in a live trading room in early 2007 and earned the nick-name "The Gap Guy." The volume of interest coupled with the dearth of quality gap trading information on the web, prompted the development of www.MasterTheGap.com and this blog.
There are many different ways to trade gaps successfully. The goal of this blog is to share some of my research and techniques, facilitate the exchange of ideas among "gappers" of all types and all markets, and occasionally promote my members-only site.
I love to help traders, so if you have a question, shoot me an email.
Carpe Diem!
